Hey! Hi! Hello! My name is Carley!!
A bit about me:
I am originally from Topeka, but I moved here to get my Bachelors of Art in Art from Newman University. I loved living here, so I stayed after finishing my undergrad! When I grow up, I want to be a high school photography teacher (I also want to be someone that actually reads the books she purchases 😂 ).
I am currently reading Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis, and The Pursuit of God by A.W. Tozer. Also, The Invisible Life of Addie Larue by V.E. Schwab, for fun. I have a bad habit of starting other books before I finish one, so I am always in the middle of multiple reads.
In my free time, I love to spend time with friends, do something creative (photography, painting, sometimes journal), or travel with my people! Also enjoy hanging out with my kitty cat, Aurora.
My unpopular opinion is that peanut butter and chocolate is an awful combination. Sorry, not sorry. Reese's are the worst candy.
My time at Fairmount:
I have been a barista for close to three years now. I started at Mead's Corner, and worked there for a short time before they closed in the summer of 2018. I joined the Fairmount team in September of 2018. It is by far my favorite job I’ve had, especially now that I am also doing marketing! I love the people.
My coworkers are some of the best people I have ever met, and I am so grateful to be surrounded by such a loving, caring, and FUN staff! I also really enjoy interacting with customers and getting to know them! Such a cool community.
In a normal shift, I have probably 2-4 shots of espresso, and sometimes a cafe au lait or two...SO, way too much! 😅 My favorite Fairmount treats are fresh blueberry muffins and an iced honey breve latte!
I love working at Fairmount for many reasons. The staff is a huge blessing to me. Since I have been here over two years now, I have gotten to build relationships with many awesome people. It is also super encouraging to get to look out into the shop and see so many people doing Bible study and just doing life together. I also really enjoy getting to be a small part of people’s days–and hopefully it’s a joyful part! Getting to know customers is really fun for me. Plus, coffee!
Fairmount has helped me grow into a more confident leader and woman. I think that God brought me to this team to help mold me closer to the person He has called me to be, and to give me an awesome support system through some of the hardest and biggest changes of my life so far.
My Faith:
God recently has been teaching me and affirming me that His timing and plan is best. He has brought people and blessings into my life when He knew that I would need them–even when I didn’t think or want to ask.
